4 Ways Affiliates Can Instantly Make More Money…

In the last post I wrote, I gave you a cool little trick for increasing your income… Today, I want to go over 4 of my favorite ways to make more money as an affiliate.

Some of these might open your eyes, while others might seem like common sense. Either way, you’re leaving money on the table if you’re not implementing these 4 things…

1. Build an Email List & Physical Address List

Most affiliates just promote products without ever building any assets for themselves. This is a pretty big mistake.

The most successful people online have assets such as email lists and blog followers that they can continue to market products and services to.

On the same note, if you’re collecting email addresses you should also look for a way to try and get physical addresses from the leads you’re getting.

And here’s why…

If email goes away, or its replaced by something else, you’re screwed. Also, physical addresses have a lot more value than an email address. Direct mail took a major hit when the internet came around, but smart direct mail people realize that this is a major opportunity because people’s mailboxes aren’t clogged up with a bunch of junk mail.

Using direct mail to drive people to a website is going to be a massive trend in 2011.

2. Split Test EVERYTHING

Split testing is where all the money is made in this business.

Drill that into your head.

Unless you’re the luckiest son-of-a-bitch on earth, the first campaign you try isn’t going to make you a bunch of money. Hell if they make any money, you should be happy.

This business is all about testing proven principles and applying them to your ads & landing pages…

Things such as offers, colors, headlines, buttons, button sizes, pictures, calls to action, trust signals and emotional appeals should ALL be tested over and over.

I always like to relate split testing to eating healthy when you’re trying to get in shape. Most people will say “yeh, yeh I eat healthy…. now tell me which supplements I should be taking”

This is how most affiliates think of split testing – they overlook it as if it’s something too simple to actually make a difference. When in reality its just like the food you eat to get in shape – it’s EVERYTHING!

3. Eliminate The Leaks In Your Campaigns…

I’ll be the first to admit, that I’m not very on top of my tracking. If a campaign is doing well, I usually don’t break it down and see exactly which ads are producing the most money.

However, when I actually do this – I’ll almost always find 1-2 ads that are crushing and then the rest are losing me money. Simply by eliminating the “leaks” I am saving myself a bunch of money.

And if you find something that is working well, don’t sit around and just be happy with what you’re making. You never know how long that thing will last – make sure you milk it for all it’s worth.

4. Be The First In An Emerging Market…

2011 is going to be a big year for affiliate marketing…

And there’s a lot of trends right now in “evergreen” industries that you could make some good money promoting. Here’s a few niches that I think will blow up (or just continue to grow)

–> Gluten Free Diets

–> Organic & Natural Products & Foods

–> Gold & Silver Markets (the dollar is losing value everyday, lots of people are investing in precious metals)

–> Work from Home (big already, but will continue as the unemployment rate soars)

–> Fat Loss (general fat loss, but also obesity products and childhood obesity products)

–> Green Energy
